Trehalose................is it good for DIABETICS?

Trehalose, the Smart Sugar.

this lens' photo
I am so excited about finding this information I want to tell everybody. I am so encouraged! The miracle sugar is what I want to call it! My introduction to this sugar was at a health food store where a featured product that has Trehalose in it was introduced and it intrigued me.

After I spoke with the doctor that is supposed to have produced this drink with Trehalose in it contents, I wanted to get an appointment with him to relate my business to him, and see if there was some interest on his part. He said to call his office and have the receptionist set an appointment. I did as he requested, and followed up twice, and never heard from him, and the receptionist said he had to make his own appointment as he was keeping very few hours. It was very strange, and bummed me out.

I was however very intrigued by this sugar, and have done my own research and have bought my own raw product. So I am thankful that I was treated poorly, because it led me to find my Magic Sugar. Is it not interesting the way things happen sometimes!

Mr research has impressed me in the many studies that have been done on this nutrient, and how many areas in our health this Glyconutrient can provide benefits. I encourage you to look into this for your own benefit and see what it can do for you and your family.

I am not a doctor and must say that any changes or additions you make in your diet etc. you need to talk with your doctor first. This is not a drug and is simply a version of good old sugar. Of course no health claims are given or made and I only have my opinions, as you do also.

Don't use the old sugar

We have all grown up with plenty of white sugar and have used it in abundance. When I was growing up very little was said about the fact that table sugar is not good for us. Then comes the high fructose corn syrup, with the governments promoting and pushing its use. Now we should be aware that the high fructose corn syrup is many times worse for us than the regular white table sugar.

I have recently read about a study that says the spikes in our sugar levels, or blood glucose can bring on a heart attack! This is scary and is one more reason to learn about the Smart Sugar-Trehalose.I can relate to this phenomenon. I had noticed that when I ate something sweet it sometimes caused a discomfort in my chest. Eating a excess amount of sugar or fructose corn syrup we should all understand is not good for our health.

So how about those that have opted with the artificial sweeteners? In my opinion one has to take just a little time and do some research to realize that most of the artificial sweeteners are definitely not good for our body. The ultimate insult is when they tell that the most popular artificial sweetener will cause us to put on weight by making us more hungry! Do take the the time and do some of your own research.

Diabetics will need to check with their physicians before making any changes in their diet so they do not have a spike in their glucose and create a problem. Keep in mind that the artificial sweetener is big profits for the big companies. Be wise and do your due diligence please. This is not meant to be any form of medical advice and always check with your doctor before making any changes.

Trehalose is about half as sweet as traditional sugar and it will take some adjusting. At very least we need to incorporate Trehalose into our diet. The calorie content is also less. It has no after taste and actually enhances the flavor of most food. Try a little on your salad! Yes, Salad. Look for ways to get some of this sugar everyday as you might ant super nutrient.

How am I using Trehalose

As previously stated it is not as sweet as regular table sugar and this takes some getting adjusted too. However for several years I have worked towards not having to have anything that I drink or eat so sweet. Occasionally I like a glass of iced tea, and I get non-sweetened and add a little Stevia. When a family member has tasted what is sweet enough for me they cannot stand it. I have worked on slowly cutting back on the sugar/sweet addiction.

I have realized that it does take almost a 2 to 1 ratio of sugar to Trehalose. But remember the long list of benefits including that it enhances the taste of most food and has no after taste. I wonder if the Chinese restaurants have tried Trehalose instead of MSG. ( MSG make my chest constrict, it is very bad for anyone).

I use it in my drinks, coffee, tea and lemonade. I use it on my breakfast foods and it makes it taste better. Skip the sweetened cereals, and if you do eat any cereal and need to sweeten it, use Trehalose. Trehalose enhances the flavor of most foods , so you can even put a little on your salad. Yes, it sounds weird but it is not going to make your salad sweet with a little, but will make it taste better. You can perhaps substitute Trehalose in many of your recipes or a least partially substitute the table sugar. The picture is anywhere you use sugar, you can use Trehalose.

I use Trehalose in my smoothies and I am satisfied that even the Green smoothies taste better. I know of people that are substituting Trehalose in their made from scratch cake recipes. They say they replace a quarter of the table sugar content with Trehalose. I have sampled the results and have no complaints about the taste. I unfortunately cannot speak from experience as far as baking a cake.

Trehalose is going to be a big part in my health going forward. To me everything that I have seen and read about Trehalose is positive and I encourage you to try some today.

Make your food and drink more healthy

Trehalose is the KEY!

You need to look for ways to use Trehalose and get about 3 tablespoons a day to start off. After 3 months you may possibly cut back. As for me and the potential benefits that Trehalose can give, I want as much as possible. Don't you?

I just made me a pitcher of fresh squeezed lemonade and sweetened it with half Trehalose and half Stevia. Of course this is a double bonus because of the benefits of fresh lemon juice. Use your immagination and look for the benefits as your body utilizes the Glyconutrients.

How about sweetening your green-tea and any other herb type drink that you want to sweeten a little. I know of someone that puts table sugar on their grits! I wonder if they would switch to Trehalose, at the very least it would be healthier. Any where you can add even just a little will be beneficial.

Some sugars are quite harmful to your health and may be the cause or contributing factor of many diseases. Other sugars are very beneficial. With over 200 different sugars occurring naturally in our environment, it is easy to say that they are not all the same. However the modern diet is lacking in the good sugars (trehalose) that our body needs to function properly.

As an example with diabetics, this can become even more critical over time as the health of the diabetic deteriorates or becomes worse. Dr, J C Spencer has an Ebook "Change your sugar, Change you life," that is a must read for diabetics. Explore and research the many wonderful benefits of Trehalose.

The Trehalose is the most cost efficient nutrient that I use and does not require a prescription. It is a no brainier in my opinion.

Resurrection plant

Take a close look at the Resurrection plant image above!

The resurrection plant can look dead for many years and then with a little rain can come back to life. Do look closely at the image of the resurrection plant. In about an hour it will turn back green, and look like it is resurrected. This is because of the properties that is in its make-up that is the same as Trehalose. You can buy your own Resurrection plant on Ebay and see how it changes rapidly from what appears to be a dead plant to a flourishing live plant.

The properties in Trehalose that resurrects the plant can be of great benefit for our body also. Much has and is being studied about this Glyconutrient. Study what has been said about this sugar and anti-aging.

Trehalose can be found in many plants, and in an ergot of rye, trehala manna, a substance made by weevils, and named Trehalose. It can be synthesized by bacteria, fungi, plants, and invertebrate animals. It is a part in anhydrobiosis or the the ability of plants and animals to withstand prolonged periods of desiccation. It has high water retention capabilities, and is used in food and cosmetics. Re-hydration then allows normal cellular activity to be resumed without the major, lethal damage that would normally follow a dehydration/rehydration cycle. Trehalose has the added advantage of being an antioxidant.

Extracting trehalose was once a difficult and costly process.Trehalose is currently being used in many studies and has amazing potential. In my research I have read that their are companies that are using Trehalose in cometics and having impressive peer reviewed results.

Trehalose Smoothies Using Trehalose

Trehalose SmoothieI have a whole list of smoothies that I enjoy and often experiment with coming up with a new smoothie. I have tried to make them healthy and have a Green Smoothie that I add some fresh blue-berries to the Kale and Greek yogurt and ice concoction to make it more pleasing in color and taste.

My finest Smoothie is now the new one in the picture. My Trehalose Mango Yogurt Smoothie.

Take 3 teaspoons of Trehalose, 4 ounces of Greek Vanilla Yogurt, one cup of crushed ice and 6 slivers of fresh ripe mango and blend together. It is fantastic and you are getting your Trehalose. If you want it a little sweeter sprinkle a little Trehalose on the top of your smoothie. Now go and dream up a couple of your own recipes using Trehalose.

Breakfast Recipes

“Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Breakfast in my opinion is very important and I have proven it for myself. If I have a low carbohydrate, low saturated fat and low sugar breakfast my glucose does so very much better and I have less chance of experiencing elevated glucose readings and have consistent great glucose readings.

You probably have been frustrated when you go online to look for diabetic information whether it is recipes or anything else. The websites out there take you in circles to get you to sign up and try to force you to have to look at the ads on their sites. I don't know about you but I just want a little information and week by week I am learning what I need to know to improve my health as a type II diabetic.

A little general information needs to be put into the picture at this point. There are some general concepts that we keep in mind with all of our recipes if we are diabetic. The latest information that I have seen pretty much indicates that we need to limit our carbohydrate intake as well as our sugar or sweet intake. Carbohydrates convert into a higher glucose level and that is what is damaging our body. Literally, like sandpapering the walls of our arteries setting us up for other major health risks such as heart disease and Alzheimer's.

I am not going to take the time here but I am very leery about many of the alternative sweeteners and so I have been gradually cutting back on the sweet taste in everything I consume, and my goal is to get away from the sweet addiction. When I do use a sweetener I use Stevia or a little Trehalose which is in my opinion the best option unless we find out that they are adding horrible chemicals to the Stevia plant base. Watch out for many of the sugars that are hidden on the labels of the products we buy. Look for the "ose" Such as glucose, maltose, lactose etc.

I told my doctor that they should take each type II diabetic patient for some exercise a couple times every week and monitor their glucose. In a month I bet it will come down 10 percent or better. Mine did, and when I got slack on the exercise it went back up. It's true, as much as I hate to admit it. I hate exercising. Don't you!

I have seen 100's of breakfast recipes and I am amazed that they are recommending them as they have way too much sugar, glucose and carbohydrates. I have seen where they take out the sugar and increase the carbohydrates. Be wise and study the labels

Another thing you will notice is that I am not afraid to use a little butter. I have concluded by my own extensive research and visiting a plant that produces margarine that I will take my chances with a little butter. I will do better to put more effort into reading the labels and finding all the hidden sugar and maltose and fructose etc. Did you know about the fact that we need some of those fats, yes ok, not butter but let's be wise.

One of my favorite spices is Ceylon Cinnamon and halleluiah it has a lowing effect on our glucose. Bring on the Cinnamon, (No white sugar and cinnamon). Look for ways to use it in your dishes. They also sell capsules in the health food stores.

Easy breakfast quiche

Servings: 6
Ingredients:
1/2 lb.  Low fat Cheddar Cheese
7   slice Low carb. Bread
2 cups Skim Milk
6   eggs
1/2 tsp.  Mustard
1/8 tsp. Cayenne pepper
1 small can of Mushrooms
1/2 tsp. Chives
1/2 cup red bell pepper diced (I was told that the Red Bell Pepper has more Vitamin C)
I like to add some meat but it's up to you.

Directions:

Mix first three ingredients in a 9x13 pan. In another bowl mix remaining ingredients and pour over first three ingredients. Refrigerate at least 3 hours for the bread to absorb the egg and milk mixture. Bake covered at 325 degrees for 30 minutes and uncovered for 30 minutes. Sprinkle a little chive over the top. Serve with fresh fruit.

Next time I have 2 breakfast recipes that I am sure you will love. Jenny
